What’s different about planning a luxury wedding?

In a word, style. In my experience, couples planning a luxury wedding really want their wedding to capture who they are as a couple. The key to success is spending time with my clients. I always start by asking about the marriage proposal. That helps me learn a couple’s style, but it’s really just the start! Beautiful luxury weddings – large or small – are all about the details.

How do you work with couples to plan memorable luxury weddings?

Every wedding is planned with integrity, grace and style to ensure that the entire event is an authentic representation of the couple. For example, I recently planned a wedding for Jamie and George, San Francisco-based attorneys. Jamie’s parents live in Chicago, Illinois and have a second home in Sedona. Despite the geographic distance, I worked closely with the entire family – so much so that I felt as though I was planning the wedding of a good friend or family member. That is always my goal – to make my client, my friend.

After meeting the couple and Jamie’s parents, Gary and Laura, it was easy to see that they were a family who appreciated quality and meticulous attention to detail, but shunned anything too showy or elaborate. We decided on a sophisticated, elegant theme for their wedding that would be an exquisite experience for their friends and family.

What’s the key to a successful destination wedding in Sedona, Arizona?

Simply put… resources. Discovering a couple’s secret desires for a perfect wedding day is one thing. Delivering them is quite another. Over the years, I have cultivated a network of experts to handle every aspect of the special day. The perfect florist for one wedding could be a disaster for another. For example, when I learned that Jamie was camera shy, I instantly knew which photographer to choose. The one I had in mind was excellent at getting beautiful photographs in a non-intrusive way. That’s what it’s all about – not just finding a photographer… matching the right photographer with the
right couple.

What unique talents do you bring to a luxury wedding planning process?

I am very focused on detail and communication. I communicate with my couples from start to finish – as often (or as rarely) as they like. But more importantly, I follow up with every single vendor involved with any wedding I plan. Gary and Laura hosted their daughter’s wedding and reception at their second home here in Sedona. It took meticulous planning to arrange for a seamless transition from wedding ceremony to reception to band playing under the night sky, but that’s what I do!

Any advice for couples planning a luxury wedding in Sedona?

All weddings – large or small, easy or elaborate – are about a couple’s simple but profound love for each other. As long as that remains the focal point of the planning process, a couple’s dream wedding will fall into place (almost) effortlessly.
